An accused man was heckled leaving court today after he was charged with engaging in a sexual act with a minor and sexually exploiting a teenage girl.
The 50-year-old from Dublin is facing trial by judge and jury.
The man, who is accused of defiling a child, sat in the dock with a hand to his face during the 10-minute hearing.
He cannot be named because of the nature of the charges.
It is alleged that between March and June 2007, the 50-year-old sexually assaulted a female at a location in Co Donegal and at two locations in Dublin, including in a hotel carpark at Dublin Airport.
It is also alleged that in February 2011 in Dublin he engaged in a sexual act with a child under 17 years of age.
There are also 40 charges of sexual exploitation between 2008 and 2011. One of the charges alleges that he invited, induced or coerced a girl to engage or participate in a sexual, indecent or obscene act.
The DPP has directed trial by judge and jury and the man has been remanded on bail to appear in court on April 29 when the book of evidence is due to be served on him.
