A Wexford punter is almost €33,000 richer after picking 10 winning horses in an accumulator bet.
The Paddy Power customer, who wants to remain anonymous, faced an agonising wait before collecting his winnings when a stewards’ inquiry was called for the final race.
The man backed 10 morning favourites on Friday with a €10 bet, winning €32,600.
A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Having faced a stewards’ inquiry on the last leg it’s fair to say that he’s earned it, this is truly weapons grade punting and I hope he enjoys his winnings.”
The inquiry was called on the 9.20pm race at Dundalk, when the 3/1 Atmospheric High was eventually declared the winner.
Other horses backed in the lucky punter’s accumulator included Hidden Justice at Catterick and Hurricane Spirit at Wolverhampton.
An accumulator is a bet in which a punter picks several races, matches or events. The winnings of his first selection become his bet on the next, and so on.
