Academic calls McCarthy report ‘short-sighted’
A leading academic on education is describing some of the cutbacks proposed by An Bord Snip Nua as "crazy and short-sighted".
Professor John Coolahan of NUI Maynooth has said a number of recommendations made by Colm McCarthy could seriously damage the education system.
He is particularly concerned by proposals to merge several agencies with the Department of Education.
Professor Coolahan said this could undo decades of progress.
