Gardaí say they are very concerned about a woman whose daughter was found in Rathcoole in County Dublin yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí say they are very concerned about a woman whose daughter was found in Rathcoole in County Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The baby is said to be stable and is in the care of staff of Tallaght Hospital this evening.

The little girl found on the Steelstown Road in Rathcoole yesterday afternoon is said to be in a stable condition today.

Gardaí say she had been fed and nourished prior to be being left in the remote area.

They believe she was between 24 and 36 hours old when she was found by a passer-by.

Gardaí are appealing for the youngster's mother to come forward and say they are anxious to reunite her with her baby.

They are reasuring the woman that they will deal with her and her child with the utmost sensitivity
