Over 44,000 girls have received the HPV cervical cancer vaccine, ahead of HSE targets.

86% of first year girls got the three doses during 2011 / 2012; an increase of 4% on the previous year.

The Health Service Executive commended the staff involved in the programme, putting emphasis on the rate of retention of girls in the programme between the first and third doses.
