ESB staff are on site fixing the problem that includes the Bedford Row,Templebar and Drumcondra areas.

ESB said it hoped to resolve the issue shortly.

In the meantime, audience members at the Olympia Theatre, on Dame Street, have taken to Twitter to report that they are left sitting in the dark before tonight's performance.

Update 9.30pm: Power has now been restored to most of the affected homes.
