80-year-old Frank Helly, who went missing from his Co Galway nursing home on Sunday evening, has been found.

A family member confirmed he was found alive, and is believed to have been within 1km of the nursing home on Church Road in Moycullen from which he disappeared. He was discovered by a local man, Charlie O'Malley, who spotted his hand sticking out of a bush.

His son, Michael Helly, said his father had suffered a slight neck injury and minor cuts and bruises, but was otherwise "in good spirits".

He is being taken by the scene by air ambulance, and gardaí are understood to have closed the road nearby.

200 people were involved in a search of the surrounding area over the last few days.
