170 jobs lost in Cork as centre transferred to England

170 jobs are to go at insurance company Assurant Solutions.

The company is to close its call centre in Cork, and transfer the business to Crewe in England.

Assurant said it is scheduling meetings with staff to discuss the timeline of the closure, which is expected to be completed by September.

A spokesman says the decision was taken to ensure the company can "compete efficiently".

Assurant Solutions describes itself as a global provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products.
