The number of children killed on Irish roads has more than doubled this year according to the Road Safety Authority.

The number of children killed on Irish roads has more than doubled this year according to the Road Safety Authority.

In 2013, six children lost their lives. So far this year, 13 have been killed in road accidents.

As schools re-open after the holidays, the RSA is urging parents to make sure their children are safe on the road.

The RSA is distributing more than 85,000 hi-vis vests to schoolchildren this year.
