More than 11,300 cigarettes, 5kgs of tobacco and a car were seized by Revenue officers in Cork city today.
Two men were questioned after two houses in the city were searched under warrant as part of an intelligence-led operation.
The seized products have a combined value of more than €9,400, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of more than €7,500.
The brands seized include ‘Excellence’, ‘Gold Classic’, ‘Richman’ and ‘Flandria’.
The seizures were part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of tobacco products in the shadow economy.
Revenue says that investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
