More than 100 piers and harbours damaged during the winter storms will share a repair fund of €8.5m.

The news was announced by Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney and will cover 115 piers and harbours in 11 local authority areas.

The North Harbour on Cape Clear in West Cork, which was particularly badly damaged, will receive €1.3m.

Meanwhile, more than €11m has been allocated in capital spending for work at six fishery centres including Howth, Dunmore East and Castletownbere.
