The deer population in Dublin's Phoenix Park is set to reach 550 by the end of this month.

Fawning season is well underway, with 100 new fawns already born this year.

UCD have been studying and tagging the herds and can trace the deers' parentage back over 20 years.

According to the veterinary and zoology students, the male herd occupy one side of the park by the Cricket Grounds and the females occupy the Castleknock end.
