Ronnie Wood is planning to persuade the rest of The Rolling Stones to play Glastonbury this summer.

The guitarist with the legendary 'Angie' group is keen to perform at the UK festival and is planning to try extra hard to get the other band members - Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts - on board.

He said: "Wouldn't it be nice. We've got a meeting next month and that's going to be my first question to them. It's something I've always been interested in. I'm going to twist their arms."

The Rolling Stones marked their 50th anniversary last year and celebrated with live dates in London, New Jersey and New York.

Ronnie hopes to continue the celebration this year too, telling the Daily Record newspaper: "I've got lots of high hopes this year, now that were all rehearsed - let's get it cracking this summer."

The rocker has just returned from his honeymoon with his third wife, 34-year-old theatre producer Sally Humphreys and says he's had a great time.

He joked: "I've just come back from my perma-moon haven't I? We got to be nice and peaceful on Mustique, we had a house, empty, beautiful beach, fantastic."
