Liam Neeson is to be given the freedom of his home town during a ceremony later today.

The actor will be honoured in Ballymena in County Antrim.

Neeson was first offered the freedom of the borough in 2000, but there was controversy over remarks he made.

He was quoted as saying that he felt "second class" as a Catholic growing up in the mainly Protestant town.
