Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes risks missing her own wedding day while solving a mystery in the trailer for the new film about the teenage sister of Sherlock Holmes.
The upcoming Netflix film Enola Holmes 3 sees the Stranger Things actress return to playing the title role.
This time around Enola travels to Malta to tie the knot with Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), however plans go awry after her elder brother – played by Henry Cavill – disappears.
The new full-length trailer shows the teenager questioning her impending nuptials while working to find out her brother’s whereabouts.
It opens with Enola in a wedding dress travelling in a horse-drawn carriage before it is thrown off course and pursued by a masked man galloping on a horse behind her.
At the same time her fiance is waiting in a church for her arrival and being told “not to worry”, Enola rips off her dress and climbs aboard the carriage before loading a gun.
A voice over then sees her tell the audience: “I understand you may need an explanation as to how this all began.”
Enola tells the audience that life was “everything I wanted it to be”, with Tewkesbury’s proposal then shown.
She is then informed by her brother that “given the family’s history” her wedding should be held in Malta.
After trying on a string of outlandish wedding outfits, Enola says she has spent the past six years making herself “feel worthy of the Holmes name” and was now concerned by the thought of giving up her maiden name.
She goes on to question: “Can I love him without losing myself?”
The trailer then flashes to the morning of her wedding, where the masked man is then revealed to be Dr Watson (Himesh Patel), who informs Enola of her brother’s kidnapping.
She teases: “A Holmes does not disappear without leaving clues for a Holmes.”
Enola is later seen sneaking around a public parade, before smoke billows out of a building and she tries to escape the fire inside while jumping across balconies, while an explosion then kicks in.
Her mother Eudoria Holmes (Helena Bonham Carter) then informs Enola it is up to her to “find my favourite child”, before calling her “extraordinary”.
The trailer then concludes with the engaged couple sitting on a bed and Tewkesbury noticing blood on Enola and asking questions but being told not to worry as it was simply “the blood of another”.
The official synopsis for Enola Holmes 3 has teased: “As Enola heads to the altar to wed Lord Tewkesbury, she learns the distressing news that Sherlock has been kidnapped.
“The gumshoe is immediately on the case, all while grappling with her complicated feelings around marriage.”
The movie has been directed by Adolescence’s Philip Barantini and written by Jack Thorne, who wrote the script of the first two movies, which were based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries by Nancy Springer.
Enola Holmes 3 will be released on Netflix on July 1st.
