Flanagan flounders in Jungle task

Hapless Helen Flanagan failed her third bush tucker trial as she struggled to get used to life in the jungle in I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

The former Coronation Street star had told her camp-mates she was “chilled” before the challenge, but gave up as soon as the lights went out in the trial.

But she was soon regretting the decision, telling hosts Ant and Dec she usually sleeps with the light on at home.

She said: “I didn’t realise it was going to go dark, that freaked me out. Oh I wish I could have gone in there now, I feel really stupid. I wish I could have gone back in there now. Can I go back in?”

Faced with the Cruelty Towers challenge, Flanagan said: “It just makes me want to go home, if they’re going to do this to me every single day I want to go home.”

Perhaps regretting her decision to leave the trial before winning any meals for the other contestants, she said: “I completely freaked out. I could have done a lot, lot better than I did.”

Boxer David Haye told the Bush Telegraph: “Am I disappointed? Yes. Am I upset? No, I can survive.”

The celebrities had more luck on last night’s show when EastEnders star Charlie Brooks and Ashley Roberts took on another challenge which saw them complete a treasure hunt to win a plate of chocolate biscuits.

Brooks, who plays Janine in the BBC soap, said: “Everyone was over the moon and I think because we’ve got no food tonight it was just such a lovely little treat for us all.”

Eighties pop star Limahl and TV chef Rosemary Shrager became the latest names to join the other contestants in the jungle last night.

Limahl confessed he was afraid of the dark, and revealed that he sleeps with a night light at home.

Brooks was selected by the public to participate in this evening’s Bushtucker Trial, alongside Flanagan. This will be Flanagan’s fourth trial.
