Carrie Fisher has confirmed that she wants to be in the next 'Star Wars' movie.

Carrie Fisher has confirmed that she wants to be in the next 'Star Wars' movie.

The actress played Princess Leia in three of the previous six films and, following the announcement that a new trilogy is in the pipeline after creator George Lucas sold his company to Disney in a $4bn deal, she has said she would like to return.

Asked by TMZ.com if she would accept a role in the next film, the 66-year-old said: “Yes. Sure. Wouldn’t you?”

Carrie’s comments come after rumours her co-star Harrison Ford, 70, is open to reprising his role as Han Solo.

A source close to the new project told Entertainment Weekly’s Inside Movies blog: “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.”

The “three” refers to Carrie, Harrison and Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker.
