Cyrus 'devastated' by dog's death

Miley Cyrus is devastated after the death of her dog.

The 'Can't Be Tamed' singer - who is engaged to 'The Hunger Games' actor Liam Hemsworth - announced her beloved pup Lila passed away on Twitter yesterday and her heart is broken.

The 20-year-old actress wrote: "For everyone asking … I have never been so hurt in my life. My heart has never been so broken….. Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away.

"Broken. Gonna go MIA (Missing In Action) for a bit. Need some healing time. Thank you to everyone who has sent love my way. I need it."

Miley did not indicate the cause of death but the Yorkie was reportedly hospitalised in October for an unknown illness.

Miley is a huge fan of dogs and has four other rescue pets with her fiance.

Last month it was revealed that she wants a pre-nuptial agreement, which allows her to keep custody of her dogs if they ever split.

A source said: "Miley is worth over $130 million and has no plans to lose her nest egg in case of divorce.

"She has a half-dozen dogs that are her babies -- she doesn't want to lose them."

While the couple haven't yet set a date, Miley recently revealed she already feels married to the 22-year-old actor.

The singer- who is currently working on a new album - said: "I am married in my heart and my mind. I do everything that I would be if I had the paper, but I want to take the time to actually enjoy it."

"My most important thing right now is … I want people to hear what I want to say and get my record out, so when there is a time that I can take some time off, I'll feel like I accomplished my stuff. Then I can take a break and just enjoy being married for a little while."
