Heightened Interest

Managing director of Myhome.ie, Angela Keegan says demand for holiday homes has risen dramatically over the past few months as renters looked to get away to the south-west in particular.

"We did an analysis in June and we saw a threefold increase, so three times greater than this time last year. West Cork was a hotspot: Rosscarbery, Skull, Clonakilty, Kinsale- they are all up between three and five times.

"Other areas that we have seen an increase in holiday home activity is Dungarvan, up fourfold, Rosslare Strand, up threefold and then in the west, Westport had two and a half times the interest in holiday homes."
