Temple Street Hospital patient Jake and the Coronas switch on Xmas lights
The Christmas lights were officially switched on at Temple Street Children's Hospital by patient Jake and The Coronas.
The crowds were entertained by the CHI Choir and Santa Claus, who took time out of his busy schedule to meet all of the children.
Mr Claus made sure to park his sleigh outside and visited every ward in the hospital, handing out gifts and treats.
The crowds cheered as the Christmas lights were turned on by patient of honour, Jake, who was assisted by rock band The Coronas.
Chief Executive of Temple Street Foundation Denise Fitzgerald said: “Light Up for Temple Street marks the start of the festive season here in Temple Street and we are delighted that so many people came out this afternoon to celebrate with us.
"Our top priority lies with making the Christmas period as magical as possible for our patients and their families with us this time of year.
"We are also delighted to be joined by our special guests The Coronas - thank you for being here with us for this special event.”
She continues, “We are incredibly grateful to be partnered with Tesco Ireland, who put on some really fun and festive activities for children in the hospital today.
"Each year, Tesco have helped transform Temple Street into a Winter Wonderland for our light-up event by organising superhero visits, fun activities, and special gifts to be given throughout the wards. We would like to thank Tesco and all of our supporters in 2019 for giving us this special gift.”
