Over the last few weeks Ireland has been in the midst of a glorious heatwave with everyone trying their very best to make the most out of the sunshine.
We don’t get good weather this long too often so we’re trying our very best to make the most of the sun.
Although we are making the most of it we can’t help but think that some summer ideas we had in mind aren't that great in reality.
Here are some that we think don’t live up to the hype.
Sunbathing
Who doesn't love having a tan but trying to get an even one is near impossible and if you’re unlucky enough to get sunburn then expect jokes made at your expense for the next few days.
Barbecues
Whenever there's a bit of sunshine everyone and their mother jumps at the idea of a barbecue but this grilled themed dinner isn’t all that fun. Since when did eating burnt food become a thing? Also, every barbecue has got a wannabe Gordon Ramsay who takes the thing way too seriously.
Heading to the beach
Whenever the sunshine hits we all dream of a beach day, right? However what we fail to think about is nearly everyone else has that exact same thought. If you haven’t arrived at the beach before midday then there’s little chance of you catching a decent sunbathing spot.
Camping
Being surrounded by the wilderness sounds appealing to some but the idea of insects, wild animals and no wifi gives us major anxiety.
Swimming in the ocean
Having a nice dip in the ocean seems pleasant but usually the water is absolutely freezing and there’s the chance that something slimy could touch your foot. Don’t forget the jellyfish.
Nature walks
Now getting a bit of exercise daily is hugely important, we’re not doubting that but in this heat the idea of any physical activity let alone even moving seems like an ordeal. Sweat patches are now Ireland’s most popular accessory this summer.
