Usually it's the proud parents showing off photos of their kids graduating from college, but for Charles Cole III it was the other way round.
Charles' parents, Renate and Charles Cole, were both crack addicts when they were younger, but whenever they saw their son become a college graduate they were inspired to give up the drugs and go back to school.
They have been sober for more than 20 years, and after they raised their three kids they were inspired by Charles to get their degrees.
Charles senior told ABC News: "Well, if he can do it, we can do it too. We embedded this in him."
The couple went to Sacramento Theological Seminary in California and left with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies.
Their son was so proud he had to let everyone know on social media, saying: "My parents went back to college together and they graduated today. Together #salute."

The California couple plan to go for doctorates, while helping homeless veterans in their ministry, before opening a church some time in the future.
