This powerful anti-obesity video pulls no punches in tracing the origins of an adult’s heart attack.
Fed chips and sugary cereal when he’s in his high chair, ‘Jim’ goes on to teenagehood with unhealthy food habits and a preference for videogames.
This short but powerful video charts his college graduation and, poignantly, his family life with a wife and young kids. In the background, we hear a breathless Jim making an effort to play frisbee with his son.
Warnings from a doctor (to his mum when he’s a child and to himself when an adult) go unheeded.
It all ends as an A and E doctor leans over Jim, who is in the throes of a heart attack, and asks: ‘How the hell does that happen?’
Called ‘Rewind the Future’ and filmed some time ago, the video is being shared again online as part of a campaign by Strong4Life, a US-based movement that aims to reverse the spread of childhood obesity.
Strong stuff.
