While it has failed to live up to the ominous prediction of ‘worst blizzard ever’, Storm Juno has definitely made her presence known.
Yesterday, officials ordered people to stay inside, banned travel and vehicles from the streets, closed bridges and tunnels, and assembled their biggest ploughing crews ahead of what they thought would be several feet of snow.
And while the snow has not reached those levels in NY (although New England is taking a battering), the streets have been uncharacteristically quiet overnight and people have been sharing photos of the city as you’ve never seen it before - empty.

And Nile Rodgers of legendary funk and disco band Chic was doing a sterling job tweeting the changing view from his NY apartment.
Here's something I've never seen before and I'm a lifetime New Yorker, no busses, cars, people or subway service. pic.twitter.com/qyLPYLjY6k

This woman looks so lonely. I guess we can look on the bright side. What if we had a blackout too? pic.twitter.com/C5D0YzThEd

No cars, busses, taxis or subways, but you can get a Big Mac. It's easy to be cynical but if you couldn't get home :) pic.twitter.com/QtW4YecVps

My living room has a bay window, so here's a northern view. The street's deserted in this direction too! pic.twitter.com/R0ukO0Pmjh

Looks vaguely apocalyptic, doesn't it?
