Last week there was a lot of controversy over a particular jacket Leo Varadkar wore during Storm Emma.
The Moncler jacket, which retails at €700, was seen to “illustrates the divide between Leo's Ireland and the average earners' Ireland” according to Sinn Fein councilor, Sarah Holland.
The Taoiseachs €600 jacket has divided opinion today. Personally, I'm not a fan of conspicuous consumption and think the overpriced coat illustrates the divide between Leo's Ireland and the average earners' Ireland. Others think he should wear what he likes. Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/S5zRoOwwjY

While Varadkar was in Cork on Friday last, C103 Cork Today Show reporter, Mairead Twohig took the opportunity to ask him about the controversial item.
He said the coverage didn’t bother him and that he purchased the jacket in a sale about three years ago.
I bought it on sale about three years ago and it still serves me well, he said
When asked about his new 'funky' socks he said that they were given to him as a gift by the Metropole Hotel in Cork City.
