The skeleton events at the 2014 Sochi Olympics don't kick off until Thursday (with four runs over two days for both men and women) but competitors have already been making headlines this week as they train at the Sliding Centre Sanki in Krasnaya Polyana.
What's been drawing most attention is the intricate and amazing
being sported by some of the competitors. We don't know if some of the frankly scary designs are aimed at freaking out the competition, but we're impressed.
Here's a selection of our favourites:
Ireland's Sean Greenwood channels his ancient Celtic heritage with this Giant Irish Elk-inspired design.
Austria's Janine Flock goes futuristic with this mirrored lid in which you can see the Skeleton track reflected.
Sarah appears to be going for something a bit more sinister, with a gaunt female face and a stiched mouth peering out from behind some sycamore leaves. Another political statement, or just a design she fancied?
Is it a play on his name? Canada's John Fairbairn sports some flourescent orange brain tissue on his lid.
USA's finest Kate Uhlaender keeps it patriotic with a bald eagle/stars'n'stripes motif
It's the skeleton - so we're back to the 'skeleton' theme for Canadian Melissa's helmet art.
Kiwi Ben Sandford goes (almost) All-Black - of course.
Meanwhile, here's all you need to know about skeleton:
