A driver pulled over by Garda Traffic last night tried to justify breaking a red light because his wife was expecting him home in five minutes.
Shockingly, his excuse didn't work and he was issued with a fixed charge penalty notice (FCPN). And, of course, the always on-the-ball Garda Traffic Twitter account shared it for our amusement.
Driver drove past a red light at 9.10pm. Excuse given was his wife told him to be home by 9.15pm!!! FCPN to be issued pic.twitter.com/x6rJZeqmtY

Worth a try but the Gardaí were having none of it. However, others felt his pain.

Garda Traffic then pointed out that his wife would prefer to get him - and others on the road - home safely .
