An eccentric Chinese billionaire invited 1000 poor Americans to join him for a free lunch. But there's one catch - they will have to listen to him sing.
Chen Guangbia, a recycling magnate, created a bi-lingual full -page ad that appeared in Monday's edition of the paper. It extends an open invitation to people with low incomes to join him at the (very fancy) Boat House Restaurant in Central Park on June 25th.
More than 250 people have signed up so far. He expects to spend $1million on the event, where he will give guests $300 each for their partcipation. Chen explained he wants to repair American-Chinese relations and hopes that the event will improve America's perception of China.
During the charity event, it is expected the philanthropist will entertain the guests with a rendition of 'We Are The World'.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, eh?
