Eamon Dunphy has spoken about how conflicted he is with regard to Friday's referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment

Speaking on last night’s The Tonight Show on TV3, Dunphy went on to reveal that he may not vote on the issue.

"I am reluctant. I may not vote no. I may not vote," he said.

"I'm reluctant because I believe abortion is a very, very serious procedure. I believe that you're looking at two lives, the mother and the child.

I feel a doubt and a struggle. Who am I to tell a woman with a serious health problem and a child what to do?

Dubphy said he is in favour of allowing abortion in certain cases, but feels the legislation proposed by the government is a step too far.

"For example, I would be in favour of abortion for people with fatal foetal abnormalities, the victims of rape or incest, if that was possible.

"In other words, a restrictive but humane approach, but the legislation proposed, up to 12 weeks and then maybe in certain cases further on down the line, for me, I don't believe that.

I believe that life is precious, it’s a feeling I have as much as anything.

Viewers at home were divided by his unclear opinions on the referendum.
