Though honeymoons have been put on hold for couples around the world during the Covid-19 pandemic, one hotel is inviting newlyweds in Ireland for a “staycation-moon”.

Adare Manor has designed a new package experience for couples planning to marry in the spring or summer of 2020 who were forced to postpone or cancel.

The 5-star castle resort in Co Limerick is inviting guests for a three-night “romantic escape”, which couples can personalise through consultation with the resort’s concierge team.

The experience includes a private horse and carriage tour of the manor’s 840-acre estate with champagne and chocolates, dinner in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and an “ultraluxe” picnic with a dedicated picnic butler.

Guests can also expect a private wine tasting in the wine cellar, afternoon tea on a river cruise, a private cinema screening, and a professional photoshoot on the estate grounds to mark the occasion.

Anita Higgins, director of business development at the resort, said: “Over the past number of months couples all around the globe have had the very difficult decision of postponing or cancelling their wedding plans, after months, or even years, of planning.

“We have received many enquiries and requests from guests looking for something very special on the date they were due to get married or go on honeymoon and although nothing can replace their actual wedding day, our hope is to provide a safe and secure space for them to celebrate this milestone moment in their lives.”

The new “staycation-moon” package is priced from €5,000 per couple.
