Absolute tekkers from Dean Odlum in the O'Byrne Cup yesterday

A lovely overhead volley from the Wicklow forward was _the_ goal of yesterday's GAA fixtures.

Absolute tekkers from Dean Odlum in the O'Byrne Cup yesterday

The inter-county season got off the ground yesterday with clashes in the O'Byrne, McGrath and McKenna cups as well as the FBD League in Connacht.

In mucky Ashford, Wicklow notched a 1-11 to 0-9 over IT Carlow in the O'Byrne Cup, with a 33rd-minute overhead volley into the net from Dean Odlum proving the decisive strike for the Garden County men.

Luckily Baltinglass camcorder maestor Billy Winders was on hand (as ever) to capture the shot.

It wasn't quite up to Stephanie Roche standards, but a nice strike all the same.
