As we approach what Irish health officials are calling a “very crucial week” in the Covid-19 crisis, we are reminded that it’s now more important than ever to wash our hands and adhere to government restrictions.
One Cork company has gone that extra mile in helping us be more careful by inventing a tool that will allow us to open doors without having to come into contact with the handle, typically somewhere touched by serval people a day.
Speaking to YayCork, Brian Devane of Pat Dennehy Signs said the idea came from having to continuously disinfect door handles at their premises and went on to say that the invention could potentially help frontline workers in hospitals and care homes.
The C19 Handle Aid is a lightweight plastic handle, used on a retractable lanyard.
The company hopes to partner with another local business with a CNC or laser cutting machine so they could potentially make the aid free for health and essential workers.
