16 Water Babies honoured at Little Hero awards

16 inspirational Water Babies, from across the country, have been honoured at the Little Hero awards in Dublin this week.

Water Babies, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in Ireland this week, has uncovered more wonderful stories of how being in water and swimming has helped babies and toddlers with their development, assisted them to overcome health issues and improve their lives and the lives of their family.

Despite being challenged by premature birth, serious illness and special needs, many of the little heroes have shown a tremendous amount of strength and bravery considering their young age.

In no particular order, the Water Babies Little Heroes winners for 2019 are :

Fiadh Healy (Limerick)

Ruadhàn Kerins (Galway)

Oilibhia Giltenan (Limerick)

Ivy Kennefick (Cork)

Sean Rogers (Mayo)

Jordi Kelly (Sallynoggin, Co Dublin)

Carmen Fahey Palma (Castlegregory, Kerry)

Mus'ab Syed (Sandyford, Dublin)

Eloise Lane (Castleknock Dublin)

Seán Byrne (Clontarf, Dublin)

Daithí Kiely (Cork)

Pippa Devereux (Wexford)

Chloe McCabe (Malahide, Dublin)

Penelope Nolan (Cork)

Jacob Kearns (Wexford)

Jasmine Roche (Wexford).

Speaking about the awards, Carol McNally from Water Babies said “We’re excited to be celebrating our tenth year in Ireland this week and we always love hearing the stories our Water Babies Mums and Dads have to tell about their children’s amazing accomplishments as a result of spending time at our classes.

Our Little Hero’s Awards shines a light on the strength of character such little humans possess as well as bringing out hero-like qualities in those around them

Water offers a greatly enhanced sense of freedom and independence and it is also a great leveller and can help children have fun within a non-competitive environment.

Swimming stimulates all of the senses and each Water Babies lesson offers a range of activities which encourage children to develop their concentration, control and co-ordination.

Sensory activity introduces new experiences, helps little ones to make sense of their environment, develops their memory, and speeds learning.

Water Babies classes are available across Ireland in Dublin, Meath, Kildare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Carlow and Kilkenny.
