An 11-year-old, who was to make her Confirmation over the weekend, has donated the money she received to help fight the Covid-19 crisis.
Libby Fallon received money from her relatives to celebrate the big day although the ceremonies have been one of the many events cancelled throughout the country.
The Cork schoolgirl handed over the money to Bandon Community Hospital to help in any way it could, from PPE equipment to meals for healthcare workers.
In a Facebook post on the Garda Síochána - Cork, Kerry & Limerick - Southern Region page: "Wonderful Gesture! Libby Fallon-Faley is 11 years old, and lives in Kilbrittain. She was due to make her Confirmation on Monday.
Libby wanted to donate the money she received as Confirmation gifts to Bandon Community Hospital.
"Thanks very much to Libby for this wonderful gesture".
Garda Jacinta O'Leary and Garda John O'Neill from Bandon Garda Station delivered Libby's gift to Director of Nursing Breda O'Donovan at Bandon Community Hospital, who was greatly appreciative.
The Facebook page has been documenting how the Garda Síochána has been helping the Southern Region comply with government restrictions.
Including a video of Cork Garda Brian Sherman out walking a dog for an elderly lady in Gurranabraher, Cork.
And the local Gardaí in Tralee who called to fix an elderly woman's fax machine. Mary O'Brien, who is deaf, uses her fax machine to receive news and appointments and when it broke during the week the lads were on hand to get it back up and running.
