US economy expands by 3.2%

The US economy expanded at an annual rate of 3.2% in the last three months of last year.

Consumers spent more and exports to the rest of the world rose sharply.

For 2013 as a whole, the US economy grew by 1.9%, weaker than the 2.8% increase in 2012.
