Tesco launches banana beer
Supermarket chain Tesco has launched a new banana flavoured beer, it announced today.
The concept for the new ale was devised a year ago but it has taken until now to achieve the right blend of the natural sweetness of banana and the bitterness of beer.
Peter Cattell, senior beer buyer for Tesco, said they were pleased with the end result - called Tesco Banana Bread Beer - and predicted it would be popular.
‘‘All the signs are right. Bananas are the number one product sold at Tesco and this banana-flavoured beer is already proving very popular with customers,’’ he said.
