Swissair have announced details of 9,000 job cuts.
The Swiss Government and industry agreed to spend around £1.7bn to create a new airline to replace Swissair on Monday.
The airline was devastated by a failed expansion strategy and the air travel chaos following the US terror attacks.
Other proposed options could have resulted in up to 27,000 job losses.
The group has a global workforce of around 70,000.
