Package tours still favourite choice for holidaymakers
New figures from Dublin Airport show that package tours are still the favourite choice for Irish holidaymakers.
The airport said the top sunshine destinations between May and October of this year were the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands, Portugal and Turkey.
Passenger numbers to the Canary Islands and Portugal rose by up to 5% during October alone.
Tour operators are predicting the trend towards the traditional package deal will continue into January - the busiest booking time for next summer.
