ISEQ up in early trading

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was valued at 2,718.38 points at 11.30am, a rise of 27.17 in early trading.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was valued at 2,718.38 points at 11.30am, a rise of 27.17 in early trading.

Index majors on the risers' board included CRH, up 26c to 17.04; Dragon Oil, rising 21c to 3.59; Kerry Group, cheering 18c to 16.78; Smurfit Kappa, gaining 12c to 4.12; Elan Corp, up 6c to 4.90; C&C, rising 5c to 2.25, and Ryanair, gaining 3c to 3.63.

Stocks on a downward trend included Paddy Power, down 29c to 17.21; Tullow Oil, 18c off at 11.47; Kingspan, shedding 4c to 4.66, and Glanbia, slipping 2c to 2.27.

Among the financials, AIB fell 2c to 1.26 and Bank of Ireland slipped 1c to 1.55, with Irish Life & Permanent however adding 3c to 3.32.
