The ISEQ index of Irish shares rallied somewhat in afternoon trade today, after a poor morning for financial stocks and other heavy-hitters, but still finished the day in the red.
The market closed at 6008.44, down 1.93 points.
AIB finished the day on €14.42 , up two cent, after morning trade had seen the bank's share price fall by four cent.
Bank of Ireland was up one cent to €11.63, in a reversal of the trend this morning, which saw the bank's price fall by the same amount.
Anglo Irish Bank only clawed back two cent of this morning's 16-cent fall though, to finish 14 cent down at €15.82.
Elan finished up 15 cent at €21.60.
