The company said its nature inspired technology is "equally, if not more effective" than leading chemical-based methods

Aquila, based out of NUI Galway, says this is the first time a natural, non-toxic solution has been proven to work so well.

According to NUIG, Aquila and the Defence Forces have been working together for the past four years, with the company previously providing soliders with its groundbreaking Anti-Bioagent Wipe.

In a statement released by the University, Professor Lokesh Joshie, founder of Aquila Bioscience said: "The Aquila Bioscience's innovation and groundbreaking technology is a major game changer in the future of pathogen and infection control, and will pave the way for safer methos of decontamination that do not cause harm to humas or the natural world."

"Currently we are very much focused on supplying this technology to the Irish markets. We are also interested in working with other international partners on how best to bring this technology to other global markets."
