The Department of Agriculture says the €2m fodder aid scheme announced by the Government this week for farmers affected by the flood crisis is now in place.

The money is specifically targeted at farmers in the west, midlands and south west who suffered damage to silage, hay or concentrates.

Farmers in these flood-affected areas are being urged to submit their applications for funding immediately.

The IFA has already secured some fodder supplies for farmers affected by the floods. These supplies are currently being distributed around Gort, Ballinasloe and Banagher.
