EU gives conditional green light to BOI aid plan

The European Union has given temporary approval to the plan which would see Bank of Ireland get up to €5.35bn in aid.

Final approval will be subject to the bank submitting a restructuring plan by the end of July.

Bank of Ireland is working to raise as much of the money as possible itself, to avoid having to give the State a bigger stake in the bank.
