New figures from the EU indicate that the worst of the recession in Ireland is over.
In its latest forecast, the EU says the Irish economy will grow by 1.1% next year and 2.2% in 2014.
The economic growth figure for this year is just 0.4%.
Ruth Deasy of the EU office in Dublin says the outlook over the next couple of years is promising.
"It shows a gradual return to modest GDP growth this year and next year. Ireland is coming to grips with balancing the books bit by bit," she said.
