Drumm's defence ask court to strike out proceedings

Lawyers for the former chief executive of Anglo Irish Bank are asking the Commercial Court to strike out proceedings against him.

Lawyers for the former chief executive of Anglo Irish Bank are asking the Commercial Court to strike out proceedings against him.

The nationalised lender is trying to recover €8.3m in unpaid loans from David Drumm who now resides in the United States.

His lawyers are raising issues about the discovery process, particularly the bank's right to claim privilege over certain internal documents and communications with third parties.

Anglo is arguing that privilege does apply to a small number of documents because five seperate investigations into its affairs may lead to civil or criminal litigation
