Ireland's economy is continuing to perform well, according to figures published by the Central Statistics Office today.
The CSO says Gross National Product during the second quarter of this year was up 9% on the same period last year.
Consumer spending was also up by 6.7 over the same period, while the accounts show that Ireland is now giving more money to the EU than it receives.
Announcing the figures today, CSO spokesman Michael Connolly said the only worry is the fact that Ireland is importing more than it is exporting, resulting in a current-account deficit on the balance of payments.
