Airline bmi has laid on extra flights and increasing capacity in and out of Heathrow Airport to cope with passenger demand after BA cancelled all services to and from the airport following staff industrial action.
Bmi services between Heathrow and Glasgow and Edinburgh will have an additional 45 seats per flight with a switch of aircraft from Airbus A320 to A321. The airline is also seeking to lay on extra services to Scotland to meet demand.
Nigel Turner, bmi chief executive, said: "There's a high demand for seats out of Heathrow following the unfortunate situation with BA staff."
