Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has issued a statement in relation to salary arrangements for the next top banker at AIB.
It was reported today that the man tipped for the job will not be subject to the salary cap imposed on banking chief executives by the Minister earlier this year.
Instead, he is due to be appointed to the role of 'managing director', meaning the chief executive rule would not apply.
The statement from Minister Lenihan said that he has received a proposal from Allied Irish Banks on certain salary arrangements - but has not approved them.
