Aer Lingus Regional announces new Dublin-to-Newcastle route
Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Aer Arann, today announced an additional 100,000 seats in 50 flights per week and a new route from Dublin to Newcastle.
The 50 extra weekly flights will be added on Aer Lingus Regional services from Dublin to Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow, with another eight weekly flights added from Cork to Birmingham and Manchester.
Aer Arann, operator of Aer Lingus Regional, recently announced the addition of Newcastle to the route network for winter and will operate two daily return flights from Dublin.
The addition of Newcastle brings the airline’s route network to 25 and today’s announcement comes as the first flight to Newcastle Airport departed at the weekend.
Due to the continued growth of the Dublin to London Southend Airport service, one of the airlines new aircraft will operate the route, adding over 15% additional seats for the winter period – Aer Arann ordered eight new aircraft earlier this year as part of a €144m deal with ATR, the world’s largest manufacturer of regional aircraft.
Aer Lingus Regional operate three daily return services between Dublin and London Southend Airport.
The expansion of services announced today will further facilitate transatlantic travel for Aer Lingus Regional UK and Scotland-based passengers, particularly from Aberdeen with six extra flights a week added – completing pre-clearance at Dublin Airport, operated and staffed by US Customs and Border staff, means that on arrival in the US, UK and Scottish passengers will be treated similarly to domestic passengers and avoid delays often associated with US security.
Aer Arann’s Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Fagan said that the addition of Newcastle to the network and extra flights to Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester, is the next step in the growth plan of Aer Arann which will provide further options for passengers flying to the UK.
