Aer Lingus says Ryanair's takeover bid is failing.
The former national airline says there's been an extremely low level of support from shareholders for Ryanair's €748m offer.
Ryanair, which already owns nearly a third of Aer Lingus, launched its second full takeover bid last month.
In a statement this afternoon, it confirmed that it held meetings yesterday with Tailwind Nominees Limited which owns 2% of Aer Lingus.
However it's refusing to disclose the outcome of the discussions.
